Mustache Transplants: The New Trend for 2024?

Mustache transplant is a trend for 2024

Is your hair thinning on top? Not a problem—you can restore it with a transplant.  Is your facial hair spotty?  Same solution!  Whether it’s your beard, moustache, or both, you can have the appearance you want with the same kind of procedure that’s used on your scalp: a transplant.

The Look of “Real Men”

Just a quick glance at Netflix, television, or other media will tell you that facial hair’s in today. In fact, it’s a trademark of some of the sexiest male actors around.  Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, Will Smith, and Jon Hamm, just to name a few, are all sporting raw masculinity from the neck up these days. Their carefully-sculpted beards and moustaches capture the kind of man a lot of women dream of:  Rugged, handsome, virile…manly.

Mustache fashion is a classic

Popular men like the ones mentioned above are following in the path of older heartthrobs like Tom Sellek, who charmed women back in the 80s with his thick moustache, scruffy cheeks, and hairy chest. He and his mustache are still hot today.  Likewise, the mischievous look of Burt Reynold’s Smokey and the Bandit persona wouldn’t have been complete without a mustache.   And even before these guys, iconic Clark Gable’s neatly-trimmed moustache was just what he needed to project the image of a commanding Southern gentleman in Gone with the Wind.

Carrying on the furry tradition, even once smooth-shaven guys like Brad Pitt, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, and Pierce Brosnan have opted for a mature look by letting their face hairs grow, while veteran actors such as George Clooney and Sam Elliott sport salt-and-pepper facial hair.  Regardless of age, hair on a man’s face adds a touch of sophistication to the male presence.

Beards and Mustaches Aren’t Just For Actors

The craze for facial hair isn’t a privilege to be enjoyed only by the men of Hollywood alone.  Growing hair on the face is a cultural right that all men are entitled to, a coming-of-age tradition that boys look forward to.  Unfortunately, some men aren’t able to grow the thick coverage of facial hair they want, for several reasons that are beyond their control:

  • Genetics: Just like male pattern baldness which is hereditary, hair growth on the face is also dictated by your genes.  Some beards and mustaches naturally come in patchy for some guys, resulting in an uneven pattern that isn’t complimentary to their faces.
  • Illness: Certain medical conditions can cause hair not to grow on the head and/or on the face.  Immune disorders like alopecia barbae, or inflammation caused by the scarring alopecia cicatricial can keep hair from coming in.  Men with these conditions should definitely seek medical attention.
  • Scarring: Incisions from past surgeries or injuries from accidents involving the face can leave permanent scars that natural moustache growth may not be able to hide.  Small areas where follicular damage has occurred may need to be grafted with hair from the donor area.
